ABCO Craft Meet

We’re so crafty! We had a booth at the Craft Meet on Sunday in Oakland. Sponsored by ABCO Art Space and Brave Scarecrow music and art collective, it was a day of independent selling of crafts, used goods, treats, etc… there was live music and DJs all day and night, including our friend Golden Gram. The morning began with someone running through the lot yelling “vegan donuts are here” and ended with $2 beer and baked potatoes for dinner at night, all the while surrounded by independent artists selling and trading their wares. The proceeds of the day went to support Oakland’s art scene–We like that.

Fun with MacCentric Solutions

Every November Jen gets to shoot the MacCentric Solutions holiday card, and update the staff photos. This is always so much fun, because this is one great bunch of folks… And talk about making my job easier–they are all gorgeous! This year, they decided to let their personalities shine in the website bio photos, so they were encouraged to bring along props and have a little fun with their photo shoot. Everyone’s choices were so clever–there were Moses and Freud action figures, crazy hats, comic books, potted plants, and of course a plush raven a la Edgar Allen Poe coupled with a monocle. Since I am secretly a sci-fi geek (I guess it’s not a secret anymore) my favorite props were Rick’s vintage toys. [Left you will see him making the USS Enterprise fight the Millennium Falcon.] With all-around merriment throughout the morning, it wasn’t even like working. Thank you to the gang of MacCentric Solutions! (pssst… If your Mac needs some help, you should give these guys a call…)

We ‘heart’ the Indie Mart

Indie Mart, how do we love thee, let us count the ways… We were there again, at the biggest, brightest, and best Indie Mart ever. Sunday, October 12th, the design party that rocks the Mission was once again in Potrero Hill at Thee Parkside for a Street Festival. We had some newly created art with us for sale at our booth, as well as our snazzy new portfolio books for all to peruse. The DJ outside played a fun, sing-along combination of ’80s greaties and Yacht Rock, and Thee Parkside was offering up some great veg options from the kitchen inside. (Jen had the vegan chili–yum!) Tiffany brought along her husband and stepsons to help us out, and the boys set up their own “booth” in front of ours and sold their art as well! The next Indie Mart is scheduled for December 14th, so save the date, and get ready to do some last-minute holiday gift shopping. See you soon…

Expo for the Artist & Musician

Thanks to our friends at Independent Arts & Media, we had a table at the Expo for the Artist and Musician at Dolores Park. Chock-full of arts and music organizations, businesses, schools, producers, artisans, and the lot, it’s the Bay Area’s best grassroots connection fair for independent artists. Thanks to everyone that stopped by our table to visit and see our portfolio books. In the meantime, keep yourselves informed with the latest election truth-in-advertising coverage and News You Might Have Missed on Newsdesk.org, our favorite news publication, for which Jen just so happens to be the Photo Editor. While you’re checking out the site, what the heck, join the mailing list–new articles (and photos!) are published weekly. And thanks again for coming to visit our table at the Expo… It was great to see you!

Blackbird Photo at the Indie Mart (again!)

Even though Tiffany will be out of town, I couldn’t resist another chance to have a booth at the next Indie Mart. This time we’ll be at Thee Parkside, outdoors in the sunny Potrero Hill District. The usual cast of indie designers, artists, and vintage clothing and jewelry sellers will be there; and since it’s a new, larger venue, this will be the largest Indie Mart yet. Come on by between noon–6pm; sooner is better, as the good stuff sells out early. Besides, I need someone to bring me a bloody mary since I’ll be outside in our tent. Oh, and buy some art. I’ll be printing, prepping frames, and mounting art from now ’til then, so I’ll have some new work for you to “oo” and “aw” over.
